Watch The Woman in Black: When a friendless old widow dies in the seaside town of Crythin, a young solicitor is sent by his firm to settle the estate. The lawyer finds the townspeople reluctant to talk about or go near the woman's dreary home and no one will explain or even acknowledge the menacing woman in black he keeps seeing. Ignoring the towns-people's cryptic warnings, he goes to the house where he discovers its horrible history and becomes ensnared in its even more horrible legacy. |

hi, the new 1 is what has brought me to this lol I wanted to see it on stage, not got round to it yet but hear it is very scary even just as a play! Now on tv just now they mention the play and say it has now been made into a movie....not a mention of this film!!

This film is more accurate to the book than the 2012 remake, but it's slower and clips what I felt were important parts of the story (such as the background of the Woman in Black) and the ending isn't the same as the book. Otherwise it's a good adaptation. By itself it's not a very thrilling movie and there's not a lot of sympathy for the main character. I think I jumped once in the entire film but that's because I looked away to check something and glanced back to the Woman's face which caught me off guard. I'm not saying it's a bad film, it's certainly good for it's time and the book it was trying to adapt from (personally the book's not that great either) and I think it's important to look at the original when a new rendition has come out.

This movie was creepy. It had a chilling atmosphere and a good story. Not particularly scary, but I enjoyed :) Good ghost-horror. 7/10

Just saw the remake and LOVED it, though it scared the living hell out of me. Planning on waching this one, i'm sure it's going to be just as good, but given how old it is nt as scary.

I just watched the 2012 remake and I was positively surprised~Actually real good and there are some parts in it where I had to look away lol.I liked the new one a bit better although the 89 version is also very good.The revolution in new technology of the Special Effects makes the biggest difference between the two flicks.In the new version it so much darker tgen in the 89 one it sets the stage great watch both of'em

Love this movie! Don't be complacent just because it's a Victorian ghost story, and not a "horror" movie. There are still a couple of moments that have big men jumping! :-D
