first a few things about this movie from a guy that was there it was dam close to the real thing two parts for me were when the guy comes out the back door i would have shot the kid because over there he would have picked up the rifle and shot him in the back second the roof top when those min guns fire they lay one round the length and with of a football field and two of them firing there should not have been that many people still standing but all in all a good movie

Well..... I have to say this is one of Josh's better films. And Ewan !!!!! BONUS...... decent film with eye candy !!!!!!!

An excellent war film that see's a team of soldiers on a fairly routine mission in Somalia finding themselves in a world of hurt as one of their blackhawk helicopters is brought down,10/10.

Great story wit top notch acting n hard edged actions. It has a alot of nail biting scenes wen v would think tat the soldiers will b caught o murdered.

Very good movie. It could have been a little shorter. Some of the scences seemed dragged out. I could have edited about a half an hour out and might have liked it better. 8/10.

Yes they are REAL HEROS! But in saying that you are partially correct:(Specialist John Stebbins was a U.S. Army Ranger in the Battle of Mogadishu. In 1999 he was convicted by court-martial of child molestation and rape and was imprisoned in Fort Leavenworth for 30 years. Though serving as a clerk for the Army Rangers during the Somalia conflict, he joined the fighting and was awarded the Silver Star for his actions. He was mentioned in the book Black Hawk Down: A Story of Modern War, but did not feature in the book's subsequent film version (possibly at the request of the Army). Instead, a character named John Grimes (played by actor Ewan MacGregor) was used in his place.) The Film is not about him it is about them! All of the soldiers involved. In doing more research on this film I found more interesting things but I will leave it at that. This is a great and sad movie. But it shows once again who is called on to do the dirty work first. God Bless All Our Soldiers, those who are are serving and fighting, the fallen, and their families. The same to our allied soldiers as well.

real heroes? the main guy in this movie is really doing life in levenworth for child rape. look it up.

one of the best war movies out there 5/5. i was so pissed when both of the snipers went in to save that soldier and some coward somalians shot them when they ran out of ammo. its kind of disturbing to think this was saddam hussein's favorite movie.

honestly this mission was a freakin dumbass suicide mission. Sending in a small group of soldiers to raid a building and ending up fighting the whole city if everyone was coming at me like that i wouldve just blasted everyone in my site weather it be women and children if they had a gun and coming at me i wouldnt care and as for the dumbass higher ups, if they werent so "conservative" with their decisions and send in those heavy artillery hawks earlier i dont think many soldiers wouldve died and some of the parts i dont get like for example the rescuers in the middle of all that shooting they just be walking around dont even seem to be concern about having to dodge bullets if thats just the acting part then thats just dumb overall the movie was a good watch kept me watching.

the thing that stood out the most was the last statistic. "over 1000 somalis died that day, only 18 americans died".

It was a tremendous movie. 10/10 It brought back the memories of my dads stories he told me about what he saw and did in Somalia. A battle that he thought he and his team weren't going to survive. This movie gives what the Soldiers did their due credits. Thanks!

Whos idea was it to attack a whole village with only a few man? i mean even if you have experience up to your ass.. are you kidding me??? i would have destroyed everyone in my site and got the hell out of there. you what really hit me when the somalian commander told the soldier you allow to kill people but you can't negotiate? like seriously. God bless the souls of the soldiers of any war going on out there cause this right here is that messed up BS. Great acting by everyone in this movie, sad story line but great acting. 9/10

Based on ACTUAL EVENTS its a must see film. Its action packed, very emotional and it doesnt get boring. Its also full of sexy actors such as josh hartnett, orlando bloom and Tom sizemore so its defo a thumbs up lol. Ridley scott has worked his magic again 10/10

great movie this really happened in somalia these where all special forces delta,rangers etc . thats why we are having the problem in iraq cause saddam insane said he watched this and it was his favorite movie he learned from this , no uniforms to sort out the enemy thier all wearing their dresses 10/10 HOOAHH
