Interesting look at village social mores of another era where honour killing of the raped woman is the social standard. Stunning that such customs go on even now when Turkey wants entry into the European Community!? This film's femal victim points the way of the future for such women; she'll refuse to be a patsy for male bullshit any longer. Improbable scenarios within the parameters of the movie notwithstanding, I liked it: 3/5

This movie had a GREAT and beautiful story. It had a great twist and it's something new and refreshing.

Liked this film. Shows how different cultures deal with things in the complete wrong way, trying to punish the person who is innocent sickens me. Was an enjoyable film though with a touching story, well worth the watch.

Well no need to go far ..it happens in America too even by white christian ones with anglo saxonian blood. Women are raped and then their family become hypocrites by offering support and most of these women wish they were dead instead of living like this. Police says they will catch the guy but when they do, he goes to prison and the victims never gets over being violated.

Sad and horrifying movie even though the ending was kind of a surprise. Under Islamic law, women/girls who are raped are the guilty ones. She's guilty for not crying out loud enough and they need 4 male witnesses to prove that she is innocent. Otherwise, stoned to death by MEN. Only men with no conscience would make such a law. It's absolutely disgusting. Watch this film. I also recommend similar films such as Osama, The Stoning of Soraya M. 10/10 stars!

I really enjoyed this movie. 5/5 I have a very good friend that lives in Turkey. She and I talk a lot. I think she is one of the best people in the whole world and sometimes she tells me things that make me very sad. I admire her for being brave and still being herself because the world is still a place where it is very difficult to be a free spirited woman. <3

Fantastic film and what a ride to go on with Meryem... an open mind about other cultures and religious views is needed to sustain a decent review and thoughts about the movie, and what a delight if/and when you do. IMO a great love story. "ENJOY!"

A different kind of love story,when worlds collide and cultures seem so dividing but....truth prevails in the end,pure and simple like in this movie as refreshing as a glass of clear water...and you think life is worth living afterall. 5/5.

Glad I watched this. Battled with righteous fury on Meryem's behalf quite often during this film, but I'm gratified because the ultimate message behind it was one of hope and emancipation. The gorgeous shots and the music score complemented the natural beauty of Turkey so well! It's so tragic that certain inequalities and bigoted traditions are being upheld today. As this film showed, it only takes one act of love for a fellow human being to end the cycle.
