Truly a tragic period of history, and I would have to agree with MrWorldWonder 5 on how we can be invading others nations even now. Anyway, I enjoy the film, though a proud Brit I can only say that atrocities were partaken of on both sides, with Mel never failing to paint a very one-sided picture for his favourite nation, whether they be Scots or Americans. Nonetheless, as a film critic, the acting is excellent and the action is plentiful, bit odd how a platoon of British regulars get taken out by two boys and a man, albeit a veteran of war, though that doesn't really detract from the film really. I give this film a 5/5 but can't help wondering what would have happened if King George had simply not decided to tax the colonies...guess we'll never know.

Many ppl say tat tis movie is dumb n Mel Gibson isnt good. To me ,tis is a great movie with great performances by all the actors mainly Mel Gibson.

5/5 This movie is rlly up there with braveheart. Mel Gibson and heath ledger delivering an awesome performance along with so many others in the movie. I don't even know the names of the other actors or actresses. Its just really good. Probably the best revolutionary war movie out there. Actually this has got to be one of my favorite movies out there really moving and powerful.

Mel Gibson, you never fail to impress me:) He is one of the greatest actors of all time and in addition to that he is also a bad-ass! Mel can act there's no doubt about it, there truly was some fantastic dramatic scenes and he delivered them perfectly:) 7.9/10 Heath Ledger was great, Jason Isaacs was brilliant plus he needs to be in some more films! I like the fact that I had seen all of the child actors that played Mel's kids in different movies. It's got a really good score by John Williams, I didn't know much about the time period this movie was based in at first but this movie educated me:D This is one of Roland Emmerich's best movies he has ever done along with Independence Day. Can't believe I've only just watched this movie today for the first time:D

well, what can i say, another amazing movie. Mel Gibson did a great job acting, as well as all the other big names and characters. i love war movies, and there isnt many good movies about the civil war. this is my all time favourite war movie for this era ( civil war) i loved it and it will never get old!

This movie had the potential be a great American Revolutionary historical film but failed. Once again another cliched emotional, poorly written plot riddled with inaccuracies. Watch at own risk. 2/5

Fantastic film, although not one of our (British) best times. Nine years of blood shed over 1.5 million dead on both sides. Most of the British Lands (countries) where taken back by acts such as this by the people who lived there, before the British invaded or brought land they wanted inc bribing. The Great British Empire, collapsed because of its greed, this is going on to this day by the Americans and British (yet again) all over the world. How can one nation (USA) stand up for invading other countries, when they know what it feels like to be invaded them selves? I guess we as a race will never learn. The war ended with American victory in October 1781, followed by formal British abandonment of any claims to the United States with the (Treaty of Paris) in 1783.

Classic movie. I could watch this over and over and not get bored. Great performances by Mel Gibson and the late Heath Ledger. 9/10.

The best thing about this movie is the visible boom mics(in theaters I stop counting at 2) Mels has some unintentionally hilarious rants/call to arms/fillibusters(?)in here as well.

I absolutely love this movie. I remember watching it when I was a child. The cast is great. Mel Gibson and Heath Ledger did a fantastic job. The fighting scenes were great and there are so many heart warming moments.

I just watched the movie, loved it by the way, and I started reading some of the comments and saw how some critiqued the "love" moments in it. All I have to say to that is that, if you were hoping to simply watch a movie about men fighting over a concept called liberty but aren't interested in the fact that those men made sacrifices by leaving their families and at the same time endangering these families, well you won't like it. If you're ok with that, have a great watch! I'm giving it 10/10 :D
