He quit because of all sorts of legal wrangling when MGM/UA was sold to Pathe Communications. Eon's parent company then sued MGM/UA that's why there wasn't another film until 1995, and in 1994 Dalton resigned, but originally he was planned to have more movies. It's always been the problem with Bond films, there always seems to be some sort of legal wrangling about something or other, unfortunately.

Not bad at all! I was reluctant to watch this movie as a comment mentioned that Bond here is "a mean, vengeful, un-apologetic murderer", instead this was the goofiest Bond film I've ever watched, almost a family comedy! Good acting, hilarious at moments, Bond is very human and humorous here, 8/10. (Surprise to see David Hedison, Capt. Lee Crane from Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea)

A lot of people don't like this James Bond installment, I'm not sure why. Bond is a mean, vengeful, un-apolagetic murderer in this movie, as he kills the poop out of many many bad guys. Davi does a good job as the evil drug lord in this, Benicio Del Toro has an awesome smaller role as well. Two hot chicks for Bond to chew on. Effin sharks eating people. Effin' heads getting blown up in pressure chambers... This movie kicks arse I'm sorry. Wayne Newton does have a strange and/or creepy cameo, not sure what that is about. When ranking the James Bond movies, this flick probably is the most widely varied on most people's polls; some people hate it, some really like it. I really like, it cracks my top ten James Bond movies. Watch it people. 8/10

This movie was great, classic Bond film...Timothy Dalton played the role well I don't know why they didn't give him more movies...I give it 10/10

I really didn't like this movie. I don't know how it compares to the other James Bond movies, except to Casino Royale. I liked Casino Royale way better. This seemed like it was funny. I don't really like funny action movies. If you like James Bond then this is worth seeing!
