Not many movies, that are adapted from books, due the books justice. This is an example where it did. Adapted from Michael Crichton's book, "The Eaters of The Dead." 4 - 5 stars.

This is one of my all time favourite movies right up there with fantasy greats like Conan and it's a great movie to get the old testosterone running,10/10.

What a gifted writer was Michael Crichton, taken from us years and years too soon. The two post mortem Crichton books, finished by others -- Pirate Latitudes and Micro -- both bear his distinctive style, thorough research, and strong plotting. The 13th Warrior (Eaters of the Dead) is a fabulous adventure. Fine acting performances and good movie-making all around. Five of five stars and high recommendations. Rest in Peace, Michael.

I have been waiting for the 2nd installment for more than a decade.

I got a kick outta this movie. Vikings & arabs. That's a first for that combination. 9/10

Awesome book written by Michael Crichton. RIP, he was always the master ! Movie did work for me but they changed it up some from the book as they generally seem to do . Antonio Banderos was good in it. The Sharif, well , that ole man has always been great! I know there are better words to describe by, but I lack them at this hour. Good watch...9/10 I liked it...read the book its written as the arab dudes journal. Thats how Crichton wrote it up. Curious

Total eye-candy if you're at all interested in the Beowulf myth/poem, but SO cool, too. I love it. Like "Brotherhood of the Wolf" and a few films in that vein, basically, this is the filmmakers' attempt to give a factual basis to the myth, and in that light, I think they did an awesome job, capturing the costume and time period fairly well (depending upon what time period you want to ascribe to the events depicted, as there's no certainty on them). It does have it's disconnects, but if you go into it without being a literalist, expecting a by the book translation from the page to the screen--or if you aren't familiar with the myth--then you'll do fine and enjoy it (especially if you like the older period pieces). Great film: 10/10 from me (but, then, I like this sort of thing, too).

This is a great movie with an awesome story, and I love the way the story unfolds. I am a Antonio fan, and I usually like most all his movies. I had a VERY hard time with The 13th Warrior the first time I saw it because it really started creeping me out, so I quit watching it and my husband finished it - he loved it. A couple years later my aunt got me to watch it again; Finally, I got through the creepy, watched the entire movie, and I've been hooked ever since. Enjoy.

I hated this, and I usually love sword play movies and fantasy films. So a mix of both should be a sure win, right? Wrong. Quite Boring. Silly Costumes. Bad Action with Lots of Different Takes in Action Sequences. Anyone who liked this is either ignoring these things, a Antonia Banderas fanboy/girl, mentally inbalanced, or a combination of all three. 2/10 Stars.

A little bit of East meets West many hundred years ago. Great tail told to epic proportions in places.

One of my all time favorite movies based on the expliots of a real life hero of mine. Yes this is a true story!

I really love a medieval movie about Vikings, but nothing looked real in it. Arabs have bended noses, Vikings have beards and so do arabs probably in that era. You can't learn a language in one day. The Vikings looked more like knights of Camelot. Not a single Viking wore a helmet with horns. This is just another movie like 'Clash of the Titans'. Maybe it's because the movie was made in 1999, but I found it utterly boring 3/10

This movie might surprise you. Action, adventure and excellent fight scenes. Who doesn't like Vikings? Bandaras plays the 13th Warrior selected to go and fight a band of raiding marauders that are attacking a distant village. Get your viking on and watch this film, you won't be disappointed!

awesooommme, only just watched this for the second time after 4 or 5 years so i couldn't remember it, was like watching it for the first time, a great viking movie definitely one to watch.
