I did not care for it being in black and white, well I did not care for the movie at all and yes the naked old man was bad, why old men go without a shirt at the beach is disturbing enough, having to see an old man here completely naked was sick, I was drinking beer and almost threw up.

I did not mind the naked old man - it was a metaphor - we bring nothing into the world and we take nothing out. Showing the futility of all the gangster effort. The scene near the end with the domestic family - mum sewing with grips in her hair and the father and son playing with the toy train - showed the real values that the family missed out on through the choices of the father for a gangster life. All the dreadful events of his life were mirrored in the various scenes throughout the film. An intense and challenging film.

I gotta say this was a weird one, I like the way it was filmed,if your into weird movies then give this one a shot 7/10

Guy Maddin's THE SADDEST MUSIC IN THE WORLD was fantastic and this film is a step up in storytelling. The images, characters, their stories and the overall story is intriguing and wonderful to watch. It does require a lot of attention, so if one is in the mood for light entertainment, this isn't it. If you're craving a smart vehicle with a story that presents the entire narrative up front, then unfolds it in unexpected ways; this could be what you seek.

Not a bad horror film. I kept my interest the whole time! 4/5
