Watch The Best of Men: Towards the end of the second world war Dr Ludwig Guttmann, a brisk refugee from Nazi Germany, arrives at Stoke Mandeville hospital in Buckinghamshire and is appalled to find the partially paralysed spinal patients heavily sedated and left to rot with bed sores. A well executed drama with a sense of humor and heart. Truncating the experiences of Dr. Guttman into this TV movie is done with thoughtfulness and focus. He fought for men who had been thrown away and made great headway. Quite an inspiring and moving film.

Lovely little drama, ideal for Sunday night viewing. Had no idea why the paralympics were even called that and never knew how they started. Touching and funny, I'd recommend!

A movie that reminds everyone of us that we are all equal and all deserve a chance to carry on with our lives, even if it looks very slim. In short, it's a beautiful movie with a message we should never forget...

i found this suprisingly entertaining. growing up with a paraplegic i got to see first hand alot of the games they play. was nice to see where it all started. 10/10

What an inspiration! Out of all the things I have read, I never knew about the origin of the Paralympics! And Eddie Marsan with a spot on German accent! A must watch if you are down and out.

WOW what a touching movie! it takes the actions of one man to change the mindset of not only the victims but those that victimise and discriminate. I not only enjoyed this movie as I am sure you will too but I also learnt an important piece of history, the title fits perfectly! I'm giving this 10/10
