Watch A Very Long Engagement: Five desperate French soldiers during The Battle of the Somme shoot themselves, either by accident or with purpose, in order to be invalided back home. Having been "caught" a court-martial convenes and determines punishment to be banishment to No Man's Land with the objective of having the Germans finish them off. In the process of telling this tale each man's life is briefly explored along with their next of kin as Methilde, fiancée to one of the men, tries to determine the circumstances of her lover's death. This task is not made any easier for her due to a bout with polio as a child. Along the way she discovers the heights and depths of the human soul. |

If you like Audrey Tattou you will love this movie. It was beautiful, and full of hope. I'm not going to lie it was a little long, but it was definitively worth it. The shots where incredible, and the acting superb.

Amazing. ive said before and will say it again. To me Jean-Pierre Jeunet is the best director in the world. love the little details in all his movies.

This love story detective film,was a enthralling anti-war drama.They story and cast gave good performances .However this film was to long and lost some of it's merit due to that.4/5

The clue is in the title. A Very LONG Engagement. :) But it is still absolutely one of the best movies I've seen in ages.

This was amazing! My eyes were glued to the screen the entire time! I loved it! The performances were superb, and the plot was gripping. Very dramatic, but also a great war film. It's a must see.
