The Rock was sexy as usual, but as you all have noticed he has not been in anything absurd like this since. This is the worst film I've seen in my life. An all star cast. What did they all drink something and hallucinate to join this project. 0/10. God help us, I hear Movie 43 is an all star cast and is horrible too.

This movies started out stupid, so that tells me it won't get much better. Did not make it too far. Not even a one time watch.

Dark comedy that takes place in an alternative universe one in which atomic bombs detonated by terrorists in Texas in 2005 have led us into World War III, reconfiguring both the political landscape and the development of internet/media into an exaggerated version of the post 9-11 one in this universe. This is not a movie for everyone, it is filled with allegorical imagery and requires a keen eye, open mind and a willingness to think a little. If your idea of a good movie is one that requires little thought and is pretty much self explanatory, this is not the movie for you. This is a film that you will either love or will pretty much despise. Southland Tales is different, it tries to be bold and big and maybe at times because of that it overreaches. IMO there is a fine line between effective use of imagery and being so cryptic that you alienate a large segment of the viewing population (which this film tends to do). There does come a point at which disconnected imagery without some form of glue to bring it together in a somewhat cohesive fashion becomes really nothing more than a jumbled mess. Southland Tales for the average viewer will cross that line very fast, for those patient enough to think it through and hang in there it will be a cult favorite. Personally I really dug the film, it made me think and I loved the satirical take on our society it presents. I also realize though that 2 out of 2 who watch this either wont get or wont like it. I recommend the film overall and give it a 8.2/10

This is not a great film but its still worth a watch. Considering the cast its probably the best they will make. Theres that wrestler guy, Buffy, Timberlake and the guy from American Pie.

I just watched this movie on TV wow I think Plan 9 From Outer Space made more sense ! TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. I hope The Rock got paid in advance for this piece of crap!

It was a good bit of satire. Parts of it reminded me of "Wag The Dog." The sub-plots about the USIdent and the experiments in Iraq were clearly a nod in the direction of real-life news articles exaggerating the threat of terrorism to keep Americans obedient and the debilitating illness known as Gulf War Syndrome - which was denied for years by both the US and UK government while men died of conditions akin to old age while they were still in their 30s. 7/10

To understand this flick you need to grasp the beginning of it just like when taking classes in University and the professor is giving a lecture and you cant comprehend the few minutes of the material your in trouble for the remaining of the period your lost for good, but its a good watch very deep meaning in giving a context of political agenda and the government system subliminal messages within the media and the governmental system and how much it affect the social institution,accordingly to the script, i rate this one a 4/5 because the screen writer really made it into a dark satire movie very sly in disguising the agenda..and more to be discover in this movie very complex indeed to grasp.. but a good watch..

Well, the cast was unexpected! The story line felt like it was made up as I watched it but I kept watching it, I liked it cause it so goofy it was like smooking pot. I am Pimp and pimps do not kill them selves.

I want to take this movie seriously but, This premise that there are only Democrats and Republicans is mind blowing. If someone isn't Republican they are "Liberal" I wish people knew more about politics before they made movies like this. The most disgruntled people in our nation have no affiliation with Republicans or Democrats. Seeing how they seem to be exactly the same, save a few points. This movie also is hilarious seeing how it was made during the Bush era and Obama has done nothing but expand the restriction of freedoms and undeclared wars of aggression. It seems under his watch we are closer to WW3 than ever before.

I cant even begin to say why I hated this movie.......dont know....I guess its just not my cup of tea....one thing I can say is, its rare that a movie has that kind of effect on me.....no rating from me

For all those naysayers who compare this to Donnie Darko just because of Richard Kelly, get a life. This was in my opinion one of the best films i have seen in recent times, and for some reason you people tend to hate it, (probably because you dont understand the context that the film is trying to protray) It's a well made film with alot going on, if you follow the story you will understand whats going on. 9 out of 10 for me

Richard Kelly's the man, Interesting movie, thought provoking and relevant. Check out Donny Darko if you haven't already.

Somebody was high as hell when they thought this paranoid retarded ShIZNaT script up! This is less satisfying than watching Babarella, Clockwork Orange, and Half Baked, layered over each other & played in reverse. Hanging out in the emergency room of your local hospital for an hour and a half would be more exciting. It's the kind of movie that would satisfy the terminally insane, nuffsaid-

I watched for more than 30 minutes and this thing is close to a complete disaster, which is why you never heard of it despite its impressive cast. I should have checked Rotten Tomatoes before wasting my time - it got a 35% rotten rating there. Got better things to do, as I'm sure you do.

i love movies that have different storylines they are so interesting and if done right they are really good this movie is crazy and i like it

You're right, it has everything, but develops nothing. It is convoluted with sub stories and unbelievable characters with no anchor on reality.

This movie has a lot of satanic and illuminati symbolism in it! if you have the eye for it! Its a very thought provoking movie 4/5
