Very good movie. Cate Blanchett shows why she's considered a top actress. This based on the true story of Veronica Guerin. Yes, it is a downright tragic story, but a very very powerful one. It shows that one person can indeed make a difference. 9/10

VERONICA GUERIN is based on the true story of a courageous Irish journalist who would not be deterred from her coverage of drug dealers, even after being beaten and shot. When she was murdered by the people her stories were exposing, it inspired changes in law and law enforcement that sharply reduced the crime rate. This crime thriller follows Guerin (Cate Blanchett) as she risks her own life in order to connect mobster Martin Cahill to a Dublin drug ring. Veronica Guerin the person was a genuine heroine. But Veronica Guerin the movie is no Erin Brockovich. Cate Blanchett brings her always-vibrant life force to the role, but the character never feels real. Guerin is portrayed as cheerily indomitable to the point of irresponsible recklessness, especially when she puts her entire family at risk. She neglects her husband and child, she easily beguiles them into forgiving her, evidently because she is just so darn irresistibly perky that resistance is futile. And that's about as deep as it goes. We see that she never wants anyone to know that she is scared, but we don't see why. And she is so flippant that we never really know what is important to her. Is she a crusader for justice or just someone who likes to stir things up? We need to know in order to give this story the resonance it deserves. The rest of the characters are one--dimensional. And, we find out right at the beginning that Veronica Guerin is feisty and charming and that she gets killed. The rest of the movie is just filling in the details, and it is curiously uninvolving for a story with so much built-in drama. And the disclaimer at the end that the movie's most important villain is a composite character leaves us feeling manipulated and unsatisfied.

exceptional film based on true story of a courageous young woman. Such bravery. Acting was great. Ireland can be proud of such a lass. 9/10

This a a great movie about a very emotional, sad, but inspiring true story. Veronica stood up for what she thought was right and stuck to it; and when I watch this movie, it makes me truly want justice. Cate Blanchett gives an excellent performance, and most all of the acting was all-around pretty darn good! If you like movies based on true stories, you will like this one. It truly is a great story, and a very good movie! Hope you all enjoy! :-)

This is one film you may like to watch, it is stunning.

An incredible story with a superb performance from Blanchett, it's not one of my personal favorites of her films, but was still entertaining, educating, and well-done. It's a fantastic biographical film, or "mocumentary", and should definitely be viewed several times.

You all know nothing . She never wrote a story about gilligan before she was killed and she was sleeping with trainer. Meehan and jis friends killed her wit no orders from Gilligan.

The world lost a true hero on June 26, 1996 but she made a difference. Cate Blanchett was brilliant in this film and it is a must watch for all ages. 10/10

well done , enjoyable and believeable

this is a good movie. colin farrell is hot! but only does a short appearance for a while... and cate blanchett (as the title character) is awesome....this is a true story about an Irish journalist who got threats against herself n her family when she reported on some Irish druglords n gangsters....the part where cate gets bashed up was terrible to watch....this movie showcases how one woman stands up for wat she believes in and how she fights crime with her courage.
