I was biased towards this movie before even watching...a boxing movie, with De Niro, AND directed by Scorses?!?!?! There was no way it could fail. It was really fantastic, and I can see why some people say it was Scorsese's greatest film.

I geuss you would have to be a boxer to appreciate this film. I found the acting and direting great, but the story was not that interresting and it got very repetitive.

One of the best movie ever made and definitely the best boxing movie ever made. Maybe Rocky can match it. Robert De Niro and Joe pesci was perfect in their role. I could think of none other for their role. I think Martin Scorcese,Joe Pesci and the make up guy should have won Oscars like DeNiro did. Sort of a Oscar snub that Scorcese didn't win. His style of direction in making the movie gritty,realistic and portraying how anger,jealousy and ego controls Jake LaMota's personal and professional life was perfect. The scenes showing his life after retirement from boxing was really pitiful. To see such a talented athlete fall from grace due to his own mistakes really makes us angry but also sympathetic with the character. A flawless masterpiece and one that everyone should watch at least once in their lifetime.

This is the best boxing movie ever!! I love it. Wonderful acting. So amazing. Martin Scorsese rocks. So does Robert De Niro. This is so great. MUST SEE!

good movie but kinda sad aout the end

This is one of my favorites. De Niro is awesome.

Arguably the best boxing movie ever made - certainly more realistic than Rocky. The part I find fascinating is that LaMotta was actually an excellent boxer but he self destructed anyway. One of DeNiro's best films.

RichardWhitley knows his cinematic history. This is indeed the film that saved Scorsese's career - intended to be his last effort before packing his bags and leaving Hollywood after the disaster that was "New York, New York". An absolutely masterpiece - one that most critics and fans agree deserved Marty his first Oscar. But as always: f*ck the academy!

Scoresese, DeNiro, Pesci, how can you go wrong? 5/5

This movie is fantastic! It's one of the top 100 movies of all time and for a good reason. The acting and directing are great but, character development is where it's at. I am not into boxing and still found this movie very interesting. DeNiro's character progresses through many peaks and valleys over the course of the movie and from his "raging bull" personality his life is both improved and ruined. I recomend you give this movie a shot. It's a classic which explores an intriguing character's life with a refreshing honesty and is one of Scorsese's best. 10/10!
